| "I approach dinner sets with an eye toward improvisation. I usually start with one piece. I like, say a salad plate, and then I borrow elements, mix them up, and create the other pieces in the setting. It is a process of trial and error more than anything else, but one I thoroughly enjoy. Most people do not buy my settings as sets. Rather they order a variety of dinner plates that can be sold as small serving plates, and a bunch of other pieces that are sold individually as well. Since all of my work has a similar feel, I think the mix and match approach is especially well suited. (In my home we eat off of the pieces that I have brought home over the years, and although they are not a set as such, they work together wonderfully.)" |
